What a wonder.

In the 20 and 30's group at Charity Baptist I have challenged them to write a statement of faith. I done once and it helped me figure some stuff out. It was a helping exercise. I began to rewrite that statement and make it more extensive than before. I realized that things have happened that made me tweak my beliefs. You’re wondering why I would do this. Is this not a sign that I don’t believe in things? No, certainly not! The Bible tells us that we should grow in our walk with God. If we are truly growing then should our views, thoughts and beliefs change as we get to know God better. Do we still see things as a child? Of course not! Nor, should we as Christians!

So, with that said I will ask you some questions. What do you really believe and how does it measure up to the Bible? Where do your beliefs differ or contradict one another? Have your changed at all since coming to Christ?

Answer these for yourself and decide on your course of action.

President-elect Obama

I want to take a moment and discuss the recent election. I first want to say, Yes I did vote for Obama. Why? Because, I believe it is time this country put the low and true middle class back in to the lime light. For too long it has been about BIG Business. If you don't think so, look at the recent melt down of our banking establishment. Greed has taken this country by storm, not only in our business dealings but in out churches as well. We have forgotten what made America great. We have forgotten what made America the City on the Hillside. It was the dream that if one worked hard enough he can achieve great things. Some 40 years ago Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream and last night that dream came a little more into being. It is not the end of the world. Can things get worse? YES! I beleive that regardless who was elected, that the United States has some years to recover and that it will get worse before it gets better.
Obama does not represent the Anti-christ as some of my brothers and sisters have proclaimed. Even if he was, then rejoice for the day of the Lords return draughs nigh! To many time Christians stand in Gods way. Why? We have become a church of vipers. We are greedy for what God can do for us, not what we can do for GOD! We give only to get. We tithe only to get. We have been taught that if we give our money to God then, he will take it and give us more. This may be true, but it is not for us to buy SUV's, big houses and send our chiildren to expensive schools. It is to be used to help our fellow man. If we did our job as Christians there would not be a Health Care problem. There would not be a homeless problem. There would not be a hunry child in the streets. We have squandered out riches. We have been greedy for to long and now we must face the problems that come with that disobedence.
The church does not think on its own, but is led like sheep to the slaughter. There is more to God than materail wealth. There is more! If you say you are a Christian then rejoice that your name is in the Book of Life. Spread the word not by speaking it, but living it. Give to those in need. Give to those who ask for help. Judge not what that person will do, that is Gods problem. If someone cheats on your good will, then shame on that person when he faces the Lord at Judgement. It is God who will reward the wicked and just!
I have preached enough today, be glad for this day. You may not agree with the outcome and you may fear the future. Yet, for today thank God for what you have and love the ones you have with you.

Eting the Meat again.

Greetings! I am going to continue on the same subject as last time. Letting God be God and learning to get off the milk and eat the meat. Those of you, who claim to be Christians, need to understand that you have to move beyond what you know. Turn to Hebrews chapter 6 versus 1 thru 3:

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not
laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of
eternal judgment.
3 And this will we do, if God permit.

Why would we be told this? What purpose? God wants us to continue seeking him, learning about him and just getting to know him. How can we grow if we are stuck, in the same point in our lives? How could you do algebra if you continually stay on your addition and subtraction? Some of you may ask, what do I need algebra for, addition and subtraction has done me just fine. Maybe it has, but that does not mean you are not missing out. Having the knowledge of algebra makes some of the things you do easier and faster. Since this is probably a subject that many hate. Let me try another track. If you never learn to use a nailing gun and only use a hammer, then think about what happens? Yes, you will be able to complete the job your doing, but it will take longer to do. This is the same with the word of God and getting to know more about him, beyond those things in Hebrew above.

God has so much he wants to show us, but he can’t. We get stuck on the same thing over and over. I was going to pick a subject, but thought better of it. Why, because everyone reading this is at a different part of the walk with their God, which is another topic altogether.

I will close with this. Try expanding your walls, by learning more about God. Be opened to what God wants, not what you want. If you do this you will see things that will only amaze you more about God. Till next time, may the Lord grant you peace.

Bad writing.

I want to apologize for the horriable job I did on this blog. I did not proof read it and I am truely sorry. I plan on doing a better job than this. I know how to write and appear somewhat intelligent, even though this work does not show it. Again let me apologize for send out a badly written paper. I assure you my writing professor is very good and I plan on showing you how much the next time. Till then God bless,
Jesse

I am back. Praise God!

What do I say my friends and family? I had not realized how long it has been since I posted. I feel now that I have not done my job. I seek you forgiveness, but most of all I seek Gods. To tell you little that is going on. School has kept me on my toes these last few months. I just wrapped up my summer 1 class. Well short version. God is moving in so many ways in my life. I can't help to feel that things are not only better but getting better and the best is yet to come. So, what why am I after all this time finally getting on here for? Because I honestly feel bad. I am going to start putting my Sunday School messages on here. Yes, for those of you who do not know it by now, I am teaching Sunday School at Rolling Hills in Marengo. IF you ever get a chance come and visit us. So, what am I thinking?

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I heard A preacher taught me this week. There is nothing that can not be found in his word. If we look and study God will show us a lot of things. We seem to learn a certain amount then stop. Why is that? If we seek God there is so much he will show us. Really!

Reading and studying the Word is similar to our eating habits. The Bible even talks about this. Some adults will not anything new. They eat the same old things over and over. They never expand their range of taste. Those that do, expediences things that sometimes can change their whole perspective. Imagine if you only ate a certain thing. You been able to try other things but you refused to. What are you missing? Here is my experience, hold on I will tie this back into spiritual here in a minute. I love Fried Chicken, Mashed potatoes and Corn. I could live off this. Yet, If I did I would never know how much I love them. Think about it. I love other foods, but man when I get that chicken meal. OH IT TASTE SO GOOD! It is such a treat! I fall in love with it again. This is how studding the word is.

Hebrews 5

12For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

See you never grow if you don't study. You stay drinking spiritual milk. You don't grow and you don't realize what the wholeness of God is. The more you drink and eat of his word, the more you fall in love when you hear about what he did for you.

So let me leave you with this, Do you want Milk all your life or do you want more?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Praise God for a new Year and a new begining! I have made some new goals for this year. One of the important one is to become what God has called me to be. I am a teacher and I plan on doing this this year! I hvae been taught for almost 7 years by the Master and I am believe that he is calling me now to begin to share some of what he has taught me. I am looking at myself and I will stop seeing a person who is not worthy enough to carry his message. God has called me since I was a teenager. I have felt that calling for years. If you will listen with a open mind God will take you from drinking the milk that most Christians drink to eating the meat that he has prepared. He has a meal for us to feast upon. We miss out on all that he is by closing our minds and hearts to what he wants to show us. I will warn you know you may wonder what deep end I fell off, but rest assure God has me. IF I make a mistake he wil correct me. I will make mistakes, sometimes getting myself out of things are hard, but I will not let that stop me from doing what I must. I will set a seed in some of you that God will use to bring forth new fruit. I am going to encourage you to debunk some of my teachings. I want you to question me, I want you to feel free to ask questions! Especially if it goes against what you once believed. The reason the Pharisees were anger was becasue Jesus was taking the teachings and going against the traditional train of thought! That is what God has told me I must fight. Tradition it leads to trouble and away from him in time.

I want to shar this video with you, You may know the song. It is written by Rich Mullins just before he went to be with Jesus. IF you cant see it click here and this will take you to it.

Meaning OF Christmas pat II

As we all think about this today, I want to give you something to think about.

God gave his gift to us when Jesus was born. We think about the word that was spoken by the angles in Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Well the peace he was talking about was the peace between himself and Man and that he was extending his goodwill toward man. Jesus was going to close the gap that had been there since Adam and Eve committed the sin. His love was so great that he wanted to become closer to us all. The risk God took was tremendous. He set all the hope of mankind onto his Son. You may be asking what risk could there be? Because, Jesus was born as a man he had the same feelings, desires and temptations that we did. At any time he could have said no. He could have bowed down to the Devil and took any of the temptations. I cannot support this very well, but I believe that the Devil had to ask to tempt him in a special way just as he did Job. He knew that because of whom Jesus was he had to make the stakes even bigger. Jesus asked God in the garden that if there was any other way to do what needed to be done that the Cup passes him. Good had trust in his Son to do the right thing. The true gift for man came on a Good Friday and then the greatest gift came Easter. Jesus Gave His ALL then and His Father was true to his word and lifted him up. It is time we let Christmas go back like it was during the first part of the church. Just a blip on the radar. We need to celebrate Easter like we do Christmas. Maybe with more flare!
